Lumino Industries made a stellar debut on the NSE, with shares opening at Rs 110, a 34% premium over the IPO price of Rs 82. The stock further climbed 4% to reach Rs 114.48, marking a 40% increase from the issue price, boosting the company's market cap by over Rs 136 crore to Rs 3,486 crore within an hour of listing.
The company's IPO, comprising a fresh issue of Rs 500 crore and an offer for sale worth Rs 200 crore by promoters, was subscribed over 124 times. Qualified institutional buyers were particularly enthusiastic, subscribing 233 times, while non-institutional and retail investors subscribed 185 and 40 times, respectively.
Ahead of the IPO, Lumino Industries secured Rs 207 crore from anchor investors, including Citigroup Global Markets Mauritius and SBI General Insurance. The funds raised will be used to repay borrowings, with Rs 337 crore earmarked for this purpose, and Rs 15 crore for capital expenditure.
“Attractive valuations versus EPC and cable peers, strong profitability with an 11.71% EBITDA margin, and the highest RoNW among key peers supported Shivani Nyati’s positive view on the stock.”
Shivani Nyati, Head of Wealth at Swastika Investmart
Analysts have mixed views on the stock. Shivani Nyati of Swastika Investmart suggests partial profit booking for IPO allottees, while Sunny Agrawal of SBI Securities highlights the stock's attractive valuation at 17.5x FY26 earnings. However, the company's reliance on government and PSU clients poses a risk.
Lumino Industries' focus on the power transmission and distribution sector positions it well for growth, but its dependency on government contracts could lead to volatile cash flows. Investors are advised to watch for consolidation before making new investments.
“At 17.5x FY26 earnings, the stock trades at a significant discount to peers.”
Sunny Agrawal, Head of Fundamental Research at SBI Securities
Background
Lumino Industries operates in the power transmission and distribution sector, manufacturing conductors and power cables. The company has shown strong growth potential, but its reliance on government contracts could result in uneven cash flows.
Looking ahead, investors should monitor Lumino Industries' ability to sustain its stock price above Rs 110-112. The company's strategic debt reduction and market positioning could drive future profitability, but caution is advised due to potential cash flow volatility.
