The stock market is poised for a cautious start on Monday as analysts observe a bearish sentiment with the index breaking below a rising trendline. The Nifty is expected to consolidate between 23,200 and 24,000, with resistance at 23,700 and potential support at 23,000-23,200.
US markets closed in the green on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 336.94 points to 51,005.91, the S&P 500 up 16.11 points to 7,579.74, and the Nasdaq Composite gaining 58.88 points to 26,976.35. European markets also saw slight gains, buoyed by optimism over a potential deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which has been a point of concern for the global economy.
In terms of stock activity, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, and HDFC Bank were among the most active in value terms on the BSE, while Vodafone Idea and JP Power led in volume terms. Stocks such as Netweb Technologies and Wockhardt saw strong buying interest, with several hitting their 52-week highs.

Despite some stocks showing buying interest, the sentiment meter on the BSE favored bears, with 2,673 stocks declining compared to 1,611 advancing. This indicates a cautious market environment as investors weigh global and domestic factors.
