The Indian stock market faced a challenging week as benchmark indices continued to decline amid rising crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions. Despite resilient domestic macroeconomic indicators, elevated oil prices and global uncertainties overshadowed positive triggers, leading to a 2.68% fall in the Sensex to 76,059.77 and a 2.33% decline in the Nifty to 23,767.45.
Banking stocks were the biggest laggards following mixed Q1 FY27 earnings, with a risk-off mood and rupee weakness further limiting buying interest. The broader market also remained under pressure, with the Midcap and Smallcap indices slipping 1.29% and 2.18%, respectively. Nifty 50 opened at 23,666 with a significant gap-down, but strong buying interest around the 23,650 zone triggered a sharp recovery, allowing the benchmark to close at 23,767, down 102 points.
Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking, noted that Nifty formed a bullish recovery candle with a long lower shadow, indicating strong buying interest near lower levels. He highlighted the importance of the 23,600–23,650 support zone in the near term. Bank Nifty also saw a strong recovery, closing at 56,693, gaining 101 points, supported by sustained buying in heavyweight banking stocks.
“The successful rebound from the gap support reinforces the importance of the 23,600–23,650 zone in the near term.”
Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking
Bagadia recommended three stocks to buy on Monday, July 27: Confidence Petroleum India at ₹78.3 with a target price of ₹84.5 and a stop loss of ₹74, Filatex India at ₹73.83 with a target price of ₹80 and a stop loss of ₹70, and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank at ₹70.72 with a target price of ₹75.5 and a stop loss of ₹67.
