Titan Company has witnessed a remarkable turnaround in 2026, with its stock rallying after two years of near-flat returns. This resurgence is attributed to stronger-than-expected jewellery demand, a shift from unorganised to organised jewellery markets, and stable gold prices.
Jewellery demand has remained robust, benefiting Titan as customers increasingly prefer organised chains over unorganised jewellers. This trend is particularly evident in urban and semi-urban areas, where factors like trust, design range, and store experience are crucial. HSBC has set a target price of Rs 5,290 for Titan, citing the jewellery segment's strength compared to the broader consumption market. The brokerage notes that while a sharp correction in gold prices could temporarily impact demand, it is expected to recover with increased footfalls and buyer growth.
Titan's Q1 earnings have further bolstered investor confidence. The company reported a 63% rise in net profit to Rs 1,777 crore, with total income, excluding bullion and digi-gold sales, increasing by 40% to Rs 20,753 crore. Jewellery sales, the company's main revenue driver, grew 43% year-on-year to Rs 18,253 crore. The international jewellery business also saw significant growth, with revenue rising 136% to Rs 1,309 crore.
“Titan remains one of India's highest-quality consumer discretionary franchises, supported by category leadership, execution and multiple growth levers.”
JM Financial
Beyond jewellery, Titan is expanding its presence in watches and eyecare. The watches segment grew by 21% to Rs 1,543 crore, driven by premiumisation and demand for analog watches. Eyecare revenue also increased by 21% to Rs 289 crore. JM Financial remains optimistic about Titan's growth prospects, despite challenges from high gold prices and regulatory changes, and has a Buy rating with a target price of Rs 4,900.
BNP Paribas recently upgraded its earnings forecast for Titan, reflecting increased confidence in the company's growth trajectory. The long-term outlook for Titan hinges on jewellery formalisation, brand strength, and execution, although risks such as fluctuations in gold and diamond prices remain.
